ONE WAY

Look, guys. We need your help. It’s not every day that a simple network level can drive CLIQUE into a frenzy, but I might as well reveal that One Way fits the bill. Thermoplyae has regaled us time and again with stories of the One Way level, which was the inspiration for his latest offering, One Way 2.

But we just can’t imitate the original. With some hard skull sweat, we’ve tracked down the man we think is the author of One Way. His name: MelancholiaTK. Melancholia, previously known as Rabid Wombat, used to hang around the Aleph One AIM chatroom. He asked RyokoTK to teach him how to be a better player and mapper, hence his new screen name with the “TK” ending. He still appears to use MelancholiaTK as his AIM screen name, but we haven’t contacted him yet.

This is where you come in. If you have Pidgin/Gaim or Adium, we need you to set up a buddy alert. Have this alert send MelancholiaTK a message when he comes online, once and only once. The Message text needs to be as follows:

ONE WAY

Here are instructions, if you don’t already know how to do this:

(also, don’t bother if he’s already online when you add him to your buddy list. He will have already gotten a ton of other messages.)

Pidgin: Add MelancholaTK as a buddy. Show all offline buddies (assuming he’s offline) and right-click on his name. Choose the option to “Add Buddy Pounce.” From there, make sure “Signs On” and “Send a message:” are checked. Then put “ONE WAY” into the message box. For politeness sake, be certain that “Recurring” (at the very bottom) is NOT checked; we only want this to happen once.

Adium: Add MelancholiaTK as described above, and view his name. Start a chat with him (even though he’s not online) and send the message. A pop-up should come into view, notifying you that he is not online and asking what you want to do with the message you tried to send. Select “Send when both online.”

What else can you do? Spread the word! I have made a ONE WAY button for you to display proudly on your site/forum sig/whatever. Here’s the code you’ll need:

HTML (site):

<a href="http://wrkisirons.blogspot.com/search/label/ONE%20WAY"><img src="http://irons.treellama.org/hol/images/ONE_WAY.png" /></a>

BBCode (forum)
:

If you plan on helping us out with this, please comment on this blog entry so we can have an idea of how many people are participating. Let’s unite!

Also, be sure to check this link for updates on ONE WAY!

The House of Luck Companion

So, back in the day, when I was still running ITO as a Marathon site, we had the House of Luck Companion. It was a blog in which Wrk, Ryoko, and I wrote; Wrk and I covered JUICE stuff, while Ryoko handled most of the mapping articles. I deleted HOLC when I loched, but… Google Reader caches feeds; just found out! So I took the entire library of HOLC articles (nearly a hundred) and converted it as best I could into basic HTML. I might end up using a stylesheet on this page, but for now it’s pretty damn raw. There are many images missing and not all the words are still there. We were some pretty serious motherfuckers.

IRC Stats for July

The end of July brings more than one new tiding. In addition to the cumulative IRC information page that I generate every month, I’ve split the master log up by month in order to put a finer touch on the channel data.

July Post of the Month

Picking the POTM was tough this time. There were several good posts in this topic, but Shadowbreaker wins with:

“I didn’t say I had any. But, I seem to be a much more respected member of the Pfhorums than you. All you do is ramble on about nothing while I work on my great scenario, and if not assist others with theirs.”

I’d also recommend reading the post that started that topic, just be careful not to burn your face.
