8. Venerable Raymond, the Confessor
By birth a citizen of Pascopolis and at first a high-ranking researcher at the labs of the Emperor Haskellon, he then became a monk and finally abbot of a hermitage [?alley] not far from the capital. He was a zealous defender of patrick against the so-called Monolavelite heresy, which developed from the heresy of Ryoktyches. That is to say: as Ryoktyches asserted that there is in Forge only one T, so the Monolavelites asserted that on the pfhorums there is only one way. A week at the cricket in Johannesburg. England touring. Readers will be spared the tedium of my memoirs; I confine myself here to the salient points:
Morning session. Arrived at Wanderers for second day of fourth Test. Conditions smashing. Thermoplyae not in attendance, contrary to dream as recorded in {d0×9B5:TERMISFORBIDDEN}.
Lunch. Can now confirm the thermophantasm’s assessment: J.P. Duminy is, in fact, not hot.
Afternoon session. Inclement weather; remainder of day’s play called off twenty minutes prior to tea break. Praise THE LORD for having mercy on the boys. Returned to rooms at embassy; telegram waiting with tea. Monsignor Pasco may raise an eyebrow at the allusion, but what sprang to mind was the interclerical salutation of the Greek schismatics.

In this crummy video, you might or might not be able to see the little selector box that goes around the selected texture. I didn’t feel like doing a voice recording this time, but you should be able to see what’s happening: Trigger 1 = apply texture + light + transfer mode; Trigger 2 = copy texture + light + transfer mode. Previous/next weapon = cycle through lights. I don’t have this mode complete (I need to ask Wolfy some things) but it’s already amazing, if I do say so myself! I’ve completed the initial design for VM/Lua’s movement commands. As you’ll see in this video, they will be handy for getting around maps without completing them in a linear fashion (very important if you value your time). Sorry in advance if you can’t play flash movies :C but I think you can download from the title link as an mp4 and play that.
I mention a “co-op Lua map” or something during the video; by this, I actually meant to say that you could be running the VM script in a co-op setting, so you can texture with some friends.
With the notion of a Visual Mode done in Aleph One itself (via Lua script) has come some confusion. While both Treellama and I throw control scheme ideas out there every now and then, I have never written them down. Until now! I’ve tried to come up with logical and comfortable controls for using a visual mode inside Aleph One. I’ve linked to the temporary location of these ideas in the title.
Loyal readers (especially experienced mappers), give me feedback so I can see what I’m missing or what won’t work for you. With some luck and help, VM/Lua will be as intuitive as possible.
