It’s not really fair to let me announce a post of the month, as I always immediately reduce to picking a patrick of the month. With that bias aired, this patrick post deserves the November title for being extremely intricate (unlike the usual ham-handed parody that gets picked for PotM). That kind of detailed image work isn’t something any of the rest of us bother with anymore, and that’s what makes it so impressive.

Now that MARARTHON has officially taken its own life, there are a few things I’d like to get off my chest. I mean, they’ve bothered me for something like a year. That’s a long time if you think about it. (Also, I have the gift of Bourbon, so truth is coming more naturally to me at the moment.)

There were a few good ones this month, but there really wasn’t too much of a choice this time.  Congratulations to patrick.

Iritscen has the honor of winning this month’s post of the month.  Thanks to the last sentence in his post, the CLIQUE may have yet another quotable in-joke.

It’s not pointless if someone else had scraped all the files off the server and was trying to gauge interest in how to make them more easily available to others (at a decent download rate). It’s not pointless if they are willing to upload a few gigs of data for torrents, or if they happen to have dozens of gigs of free space that they don’t need for themselves, with a high-quality host. But certainly if hardly anyone sees a benefit in doing so, that person wouldn’t want to make the offer, because they’d want to know that it would be worth the trouble before putting themselves out there as someone who could do that. Try to read between the lines a little bit more in the future, Tl.

The Pfhorums have sucked so much lately there was not going to be one this month until Irons came through with only a couple days left.  Not only is the worst topic on the pfhorums now dead, he was able to kill it with some style.  I’ll post the unedited version which is superior to the current Pfhorums post.

There weren’t many great posts this month, but I think 1280 shotgun shells speaks for itself. Plus The Man took the netgames support more than 8 players posts seriously, so we have a winner.

One of those maps is based on an expanded and revised version of Acme Station, so yep, they’re pretty big. I thought AO got rid of the eight-player limitation though, not that I’ve been able to gather a game with that many players yet.

In the two- and three-player games I’ve played no one’s come close to monopolising the ammo, but with more players there’d be a much larger danger of that. Granted, 1280 shotgun shells is overkill, but I’d still want around 240 to be placed on the map, and there really aren’t enough item slots to place them all from the beginning.

I’m plenty effective with other weapons as well, but the WSTE-M is easily the most effective short-range weapon in the game, and not bad at medium range either.

Fixing this shouldn’t be a particularly high priority (actually there are other bugs I’ve found that are more annoying, which I may make a thread for soon) but I would like to see it done at some point.

Picking the POTM was tough this time. There were several good posts in this topic, but Shadowbreaker wins with:

“I didn’t say I had any. But, I seem to be a much more respected member of the Pfhorums than you. All you do is ramble on about nothing while I work on my great scenario, and if not assist others with theirs.”

I’d also recommend reading the post that started that topic, just be careful not to burn your face.

Also I am not spamming. Treellama, I said everyone (should) buy this album. (Should). I’m not forcing you. See look I put it in bold for you and this time I put parentheses for you too so even you can understand. And getting one email about something you don’t like is not spamming. If I were to email any of you once to say hi and ask stuff about you like, how are you. Would that be considered spamming? I know that would be a weird email but that was just a example. This isn’t even a email. Everyone of you entered Chat and saw this topic and visited it and didn’t know if you would like it. And most of you, or all of you didn’t like it when you did. Then you visited it again but this time knowing you don’t like it. This is kind of like searching for something on google and then something you don’t know about comes up as a result out many other results and you enter it. Then you don’t like it and leave then come back again, and again and telling people that it’s spam. Everything I underlined is wrong.

Anyhoo… Two more days until the album Viva La Vida comes!

Let me ask a simple question. Have any of you ported anything to other systems (ignoring Treelama)? Or better yet, has anyone here made anything that contributed to Marathon? Shitty multiplayer maps don’t count. So stop acting like fucking assholes, like you had any experience in this sort of thing. I really like how some of you are saying “its comon sesne t0 mak backups” when, ironically enough, I bet none of you have ever made any backups to anything except your porn.

Bottom line, shut the fuck up and stop acting like fucking animals.
